The Beekmantown Central School District is thrilled to announce that Mrs. Duffy Nelson was appointed by unanimous vote of our Board of Education as our next Middle School Principal effective September 1, 2018.
Principal Nelson, currently resides in Longmont, Colorado with her husband and four boys. Duffy brings to Beekmantown a strong understanding of middle level instruction, early adolescent learners, Project Based Learning, technology integration and the importance of maintaining the social-emotional health of everyone. Her background is in middle school social studies, professional development and as an educational coach. In her Entry Plan, she documents her commitment to listening to, learning from and supporting everyone at the Beekmantown Middle School. We are excited for Duffy to join our school community and are confident she will be able to build on an already wonderful Middle School.
The great work Principal Campbell facilitated and led in roughly six years at the Beekmantown Middle School was transformational and we will remain thankful for her efforts. Principal Nelson is committed to bringing the same dedicated service to our students, programming, parents and staff.
The search committee was comprised of three phases outlined in our Board adopted procedure. Phase one was the administrative team, phase two was the stakeholder’s committee which included a cross section of our community including administration, teachers, Board member, student and a parent representative. Phase three was the Board of Education. I am thankful to the committees for their voluntary commitment to this worthwhile process. It should be noted that each committee expressed how impressed they were with the strength of the candidates.
Please find the time to welcome back Principal Nelson, her husband Jonathan and her four boys Julian, Odin, Christian and Dane to the Beekmantown Middle School.
