Number of Seats Available: Five
To elect five (5) members to the Board of Education. The top candidate receiving the highest number of votes will fill a three-year term + 45 days remaining on the unexpired term of Kristopher Michaud (5/17/22 - 6/30/25). The candidates receiving the second and third highest number of votes will fill the expired terms of Cheryl MacKenzie and Crystal Palmer for three-year terms (7/1/22 - 6/30/25). The 4th highest number of votes will fill the unexpired term of Mark Sand commencing 5/17/22 - 6/30/24. The 5th highest number of votes will fill the unexpired term of Pauline Stone commencing 5/17/22 - 6/30/23.
Number of Signatures Required
Nominating Petitions: Nominating petitions must be signed by at least 25 qualified district voters or 2 percent of the number of voters who voted in the previous annual election of the members of the Board of Education, whichever is greater.
Previous Election - May 18, 2021 - 617 Voters
Therefore at least 25 signatures are required for the Nominating Petition, which must be filed with the District Clerk by 5:00 pm on April 18, 2022.
Eligibility to run for Member of the Board of Education
- Must be able to read and write.
- Must be a qualified voter of the district; that is, a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age or older, and not adjudged to be an incompetent.
- Must be and have been a resident (but need not be a taxpayer) of the district for a continuous and uninterrupted period of at least one year.
- May not have been removed from any school district office within the preceding year.
- May not reside with another member of the same school board as a member of the same family.
- May not be a current employee of the school board.
- May not simultaneously hold another incompatible public office.
Number of Nominating Petitions You May Sign
There is no limit on the number of nominating petitions a district resident may sign.
Qualified Voter May Sign Nominating Petition
A qualified voter is:
- A citizen of the United States
- 18 Years Old
- Resident of the school district for at least 30 days immediately prior to the election at which he or she seeks to vote.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that qualified voters may obtain applications for absentee ballots from the District Clerk's office. Completed applications for absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk of the School District no later than 4:00 P.M. prevailing time, on May 16, 2022, and must be received no later than 4:00 P.M., prevailing time, on May 10, 2022, if the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter. Completed applications received after 4:00 P.M. on May 10, 2022, will require the voter to personally appear at the District Clerk's office to receive an absentee ballot. A listing of all persons to whom an absentee ballot is issued will be available for inspection by any qualified voter in the office of the Clerk of the District between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. during each of the 5 days prior to the election, except Sundays, and shall also be posted at the polling place at the election. Qualified voters who do not want to vote in person because of concerns surrounding COVID-19 and public gatherings may also request an absentee ballot on those grounds as provided by law and Executive Order(s) then in effect. Guidance regarding absentee voting due to concerns related to COVID-19 will be published on the School District’s website when available and questions may also be directed to the District Clerk at 518-324-2998 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The District Clerk must receive applications at least seven (7) days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is delivered personally to the voter. The District Clerk must receive completed absentee ballots no later than 5:00 pm on May 17, 2022.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that military ballots may be applied for by qualified voters by requesting an application from the District Clerk at 518-324-2998 or email@example.com. Completed applications for military ballots must be received by the Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 22, 2022. In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application or ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail. An individual will qualify as a military voter if he or she (1) is a qualified voter of the State of New York, who is in actual military service, and by reason of such military service is absent from the District on the day of the election, or is a voter who is discharged from military service within 30 days of an election; or (2) a spouse, parent, child, or dependent of such service member who is a qualified voter and is absent due to accompanying or being with the military service member.
The Board of Education has ongoing registration. Any person who is not already registered to vote, upon proving that he or she is entitled to vote may register by appointment with the district clerk’s office until May 10, 2022. To make an appointment, contact the District Clerk at 518-324-2998 or firstname.lastname@example.org. No person will be entitled to vote whose name does not appear on the School District Register or who has not registered with the Clinton County Board of Registration to vote at the general election. The register containing the names of qualified voters will be available for inspection in the District Clerk’s office during the hours of 7:30 am – 4:00 pm on each of the five days prior to the day of the election, except Sundays.
In-person voting will be conducted in a manner consistent with NYS Department of Health guidelines intended to protect voters and school district personnel and may include the requirements that voters wear masks and maintain proper social distancing.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the Clerk of the School District is hereby authorized and directed in the name and on behalf of the District to do all acts and things necessary, following the advice and counsel of the District’s Attorney and the District’s Bond Counsel, to comply with all applicable laws, regulations and executive orders relating to the Annual Meeting to be held on May 17, 2022, and to do all other acts as may be necessary, or in the opinion of the District’s Attorney and the District’s Bond Counsel, desirable or proper to effectuate the purposes of the foregoing Resolution and to cause compliance by the District with all applicable laws, regulations and executive orders relating to the notice of, and procedural steps to be taken in connection with such Annual Meeting.
