Beekmantown Community Info.

The Beekmantown Central School District is located in Clinton County and is composed of the town of Beekmantown, and parts of the towns of Altona, Chazy and Plattsburgh. Located in the northeastern corner of the state, the district offers rural and small town living near the city of Plattsburgh.
The Beekmantown School District is bordered on the east by Lake Champlain and to the south by the Adirondack Mountains. Forty miles to the southwest is Lake Placid, home of the 1980 Winter Olympics. Sixty miles to the north is the city of Montréal, one of the world's great cosmopolitan centers which offers cultural attractions, professional sports, educational opportunities, shopping areas, and historical attractions unique in this hemisphere.

To the south of Beekmantown is the lush Champlain Valley with its orchards and dairy farms. The Adirondack Northway (I-87) extending through the Valley displays some of the most scenic areas in the Northeast and offers easy access to the Albany area.

The City of Plattsburgh, with a population of 20,000, contains Plattsburgh State University of New York, Clinton Community College, Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital, a modern public library, and many business and industrial facilities including the Plattsburgh Area Redevelopment Corporation. As the hub of commerce and industry for a three-county area and for many Canadian tourists, the city possesses shopping centers, restaurants, and attractions normally associated with much larger cities.
