The New York State Education Department offers the Seal of Civic Readiness as a formal recognition that a student has attained a high level of proficiency in terms of civic knowledge, civic skills, civic mindset, and civic experiences. The Seal of Civic Readiness distinction on a high school transcript and diploma:

  • Shows the student’s understanding of a commitment to participatory government; civic responsibility and civic values
  • Demonstrates to universities, colleges, and future employers that the student has completed an action project in civics or social justice
  • Recognizes the value of civic engagement and scholarship

Students earn this recognition based on their performance on their Social Studies Regents Exams, taking advanced social studies courses, and involvement in the community. Students wrote a reflection essay that highlighted how their experiences with work, internships, clubs, and volunteer work will cause them to be "quality contributors to society and self," our school's mission statement.

Please join us in congratulating these Class of 2025 students for their earning the Seal of Civic Readiness!
