Beekmantown High School has been named an AP Honor Roll school.
The College Board has named Beekmantown High School to the Advanced Placement School Honor Roll for the 2023-2024 school year.
BHS was one of 1,511 schools across the country that earned a silver level AP designation, which accounts for 10% of eligible schools.
“Our entire Advanced Placement staff is dedicated to ensuring the highest quality of education for our BHS students,” said BHS Principal Matthew Bezio. “This honor is well deserved, and I’m so proud of our team.”
BHS had 45% of seniors who took at least one AP Exam during high school, 33% of seniors scoring a 3 or higher on at least one AP Exam, and 7% of seniors who took five or more AP Exams.
At BHS, students have access to 9 AP courses, and 7 of the faculty teach AP classes.
The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering wide-reaching results for their students. Schools earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness. These criteria are anchored in research-based relationships between AP and college outcomes.
Research shows students who take AP courses and exams are more likely to attend college and graduate on time. The students who enter four-year colleges with credit from AP accelerate their path to graduation and build confidence for college success. For those who don’t earn college credit, AP coursework provides early exposure to college-level work and contributes to a college-going school culture.
