Join Beekmantown French students for their first Francofête on June 5!
The public is invited to the Beekmantown High School French department's new Francofête, a celebration of French-speaking cultures.
Thursday, June 5
5 to 7 p.m.
Beekmantown High School Gym, Cafeteria, Library and Courtyard
Free to attend!
The event will honor all cultures that speak French, not just France, like Caribbean nations, French Canada and French-speaking African countries.
Students have developed research projects and coordinating activities that are free for the public to enjoy. There will be musical performances, dance, arts and crafts workshops, food demonstrations, games, and sports to enjoy, as well as prizes!
The event will bring together current and former students, community members, and local organizations to celebrate the diversity of the French speaking world.
French Teacher Hillary Sponable said she recalls a multicultural fair when she was in high school, which inspired the idea of showcasing French-speaking cultures with her students.
Materials for the event are paid for by the Adirondack Foundation's Adirondack Foreign Language Enhancement Fund, which also supported a recent trip French students took to Ottawa.
